The northern German Hanseatic city of Hamburg is a popular destination for meetings and events. In Hamburg, you will experience a diverse social program. In addition to culture, concerts and musicals, Hamburg has numerous sights to offer.

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany after Berlin. Accordingly, numerous meetings, conventions, conferences and events take place in Hamburg every year. The northern German port city is connected to the North Sea via the Elbe River. It is a starting point for cruises all over the world. The rail and air network also leaves nothing to be desired. For a conference or a team event with a diverse supporting program, Hamburg is the ideal place. We present a small selection of top sights in Hamburg here.

Port of Hamburg

With about 9,000 ship arrivals per year, the Port of Hamburg is the second largest port in Europe after Rotterdam. The incoming ships include the largest cruise ships and cargo ships in the world. In addition, there are the ships of the navy.

Here it is worth taking a little time out at the harbor after a successful meeting in Hamburg. Enjoy the view of the harbor and the hustle and bustle of the ships with a delicious ice cream.

Or book a harbor tour in Hamburg as a supporting program for your event. Here you can choose between large and small ships.

Tip: Take a ride on a small launch. The large passenger ships cannot pass through the Speicherstadt.

A special highlight is the evening light tour. Comfortable and relaxed, you will sail through the Port of Hamburg, past the illuminated buildings of the Speicherstadt, the Elbphilharmonie, the cranes and container ships.

Landungsbrücken

The most famous port of call in Hamburg is the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. Two towers with a green dome mark the listed terminal building at the Landungsbrücken. The S-Bahn and U-Bahn stop at the station of the same name. Start a guided harbor tour from here or use the public ferries of the Hamburger Verkehrsbetriebe.

Catamarans also depart from the Landungsbrücken to Helgoland. If you are not seaworthy, try one of the popular fish sandwiches and enjoy the view of the Hamburg harbor.

Very close to the Landungsbrücken is the entrance to the famous Elbtunnel. The Old Elbe Tunnel connects the Landungsbrücken with the port area in Steinwerder. Pedestrians pass through the tunnel free of charge around the clock.

Jan Fedder Promenade

The Jan Fedder Promenade, named after the famous Hamburg actor, runs directly along the water between the Landungsbrücken and Baumwall subway stations. The approximately 1 kilometer long footpath was previously called Elbpromenade. Not only the view of the Elbphilharmonie awaits you here, but two other attractions are waiting for you here: the museum ships Rickmer Rickmers and the Cap San Diego.

Elbphilharmonie

The Elbphilharmonie is the landmark on the Elbe. But before the Elphi was finally completed in 2016 after years of construction, it was to Hamburgers what the airport is to Berliners. The concert hall with sophisticated technology has 3 concert halls, a hotel and an observation terrace and is one of the top sights in Hamburg.

You can reach the 360-panorama view via the plaza and the longest escalator in Western Europe. At a height of 37 meters, a great view over the port area awaits you. The Plaza is a public area that serves as an access level for the foyer of the concert halls and to the hotel. In addition, the outdoor tour is part of the Plaza and can be visited daily free of charge with prior registration.

Would you like to take a look at the Elphi's concert halls without a concert ticket? That is also possible. Book a guided tour of the concert halls or an Elbphilharmonie tour if you are more interested in the building and its history.

Speicherstadt

One of the most popular photo spots and top sights in Hamburg is definitely the Speicherstadt. Between Baumwall and Oberhafen lies the world's largest contiguous warehouse complex. In addition to warehouses, many buildings are now converted into offices. Since 2015, the Speicherstadt has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Top 10 sights of Hamburg can be found in the Speicherstadt. These include, for example, the Elbphilharmonie, the International Maritime Museum, the Miniatur Wunderland and the Hamburg Dungeon.

St. Pauli: Reeperbahn and the Great Freedom

The most famous sights in the neighborhood include the Davidwache, Zur Ritze pub with a boxing ring in the basement, Beatles Square, Große Freiheit street and Hans Albers Square.
